 За основу Honda CBR650F был взят новый рядный 4-цилиндровый двигатель жидкостного охлаждения, объемом 649 см³, выдающий 87 л.с. мощности и 63 Нм крутящего момента. Двигатель дефорсирован и настроен - уверенную тягу с низких и средних оборотов, показывая максимальные характеристики - 8000-11000 об/мин. С 2017 года настройки мотора были оптимизированы, благодаря чему максимальная мощность увеличилась почти до 90 л.с., а крутящий момент - до 64 Нм.
