Kawasaki Versys 1000 was first presented on November 8, 2011 at the EICMA show in Milan.
Lineup:
Main competitors:
The model positions itself as the flagship touring enduro in Kawasaki's line of motorcycles, competing with the top models of other Japanese and European manufacturers in this class. The motorcycle may also be marketed under the name - Kawasaki KLZ 1000 . The model was available in the markets of Europe, North America, South America (selected countries), Southeast Asia and Oceania (Australia, New Zealand).
Unlike Kawasaki Versys 650, Versys 1000 is based on the 4-cylinder engine from Kawasaki Z1000, which has a different cylinder head, heavier flywheel and different injection system settings. All these changes led, on the one hand, to a drop in maximum power, and on the other, to an increase in torque in the zone of low and medium revs. As a result, the motor began to produce 120 hp. power and 102 Nm of torque, showing maximum performance at 7500-9000 rpm.
Other features of the Kawasaki Versys 1000 include an aluminum duplex frame (since 2015), electronic injection with double throttle valves, modern inverted fork suspension (adjustable preload and rebound damping) at the front and a monoshock (fully adjustable since 2015) at the rear, 6-speed gearbox, the presence of a traction control system (KTRC - Kawasaki Traction Control) with 3-stage engine thrust adjustment, a 21-liter fuel tank, versions with ABS and 250 kg of curb weight.
Modifications:
- Kawasaki Versys 1000 Tourer - has hand protection, tank protection and side trunks of 28 liters each with inner bags.
- Kawasaki Versys 1000 Tourer Plus - Tourer version + LED fog lights and gearshift indicator.
- Kawasaki Versys 1000 Grand Tourer - Tourer Plus version + 47L central case and built-in 12V socket.
