The Suzuki GSR 600 was first introduced in 2005, and official sales began in 2006. The model was export oriented and sold in Europe and Australia. For the domestic Japanese market, a 400 cc modification was offered - [[Suzuki_GSR400 | Suzuki GSR 400]].

The GSR 600 was based on a 4-cylinder in-line liquid-cooled engine with a volume of 599 cc, producing 98 hp. power and almost 65 Nm of torque. The motor did not become an independent development, but migrated from the sports version [[Suzuki_GSX-R600 | Suzuki GSX-R600]] of 2005, having been derated and reconfigured to increase torque in the low and mid range.
