The Honda XL 600 V Transalp touring enduro model appeared in 1987 and was focused primarily on the European market. For the Japanese market, a special 400 cc version of the motorcycle ([[Honda_XL400V_Transalp | Honda XL400V Transalp]]) was produced, which differed only in engine size. The first year Honda XL600V Transalp was sold in Japan, but the total number of motorcycles barely exceeded 300 units.

The basis of the Honda Transalp 600 was a 2-cylinder V-shaped liquid-cooled engine with a volume of 583 cc. see, giving out 50 hp. power and 52 Nm of torque.
