The Yamaha XVS 1100 Drag Star was introduced in 1999 as a replacement for the outdated [[Yamaha_XV1100_Virago | Yamaha XV 1100 Virago]]. The motorcycle was based on the same engine as on [[Yamaha_XV1100_Virago | Virago 1100]], but with minor changes - in particular, new carburetors with throttle position sensors were used, which allowed slightly improved torque while maintaining power within 62 h.p. In addition, the XVS 1100 received a different frame, suspension and, accordingly, a more modern appearance.

In the North American market, the XVS1100 Drag Star was sold under the name “V-Star 1100”.
