The '''Suzuki GSR 400 ''' was based on a 4-cylinder in-line liquid-cooled engine with a volume of 398 cc, producing 53 hp. power and 37 Nm of torque. Since 2009, the model has received an upgraded fuel injection system and an ECM (Engine Control Module), increasing engine performance to 61 hp. and 39 Nm. The motor is not a stand-alone development, but was transferred from the [[Suzuki_GSR600 | GSR600]] model, which in turn uses the [[Suzuki_GSX-R600 | Suzuki GSX-R600]] engine.
