Suzuki LS400 Savage

Suzuki LS400 Savage first appeared in 1987 on the basis of the older version Suzuki LS650 Savage, in contrast to which it was focused on the domestic Japanese market. The main difference between the "younger" version, in addition to the engine size, is the chain drive (on LS650 Savage - belt). Otherwise, both models are almost identical.

The Suzuki LS400 Savage was based on a 1-cylinder air engine from the Suzuki LS650 Savage version with reduced to 396cc. see volume, issuing 24 hp. power and almost 27 Nm of torque. The maximum performance is at 4000-7000 rpm. Unlike the older model, the 400 cc engine was not equipped with a decompressor.

The frame is classic steel. Suspensions are a regular telescopic fork in the front and a double shock absorber in the rear. Disc brake only in front, rear - drum. The wheels are spoked - 19 'at the front and 15' at the rear. The rear wheel is driven by a chain. The gearbox, unlike the Suzuki LS650 Savage, was 5-speed from the very beginning of production (in the LS650 it was 4-speed until 1993).

Major generations of Suzuki Savage 400:

  • Suzuki LS400 Savage (1987-1991) - the first generation. The frame number is NK41A-XXXXXX.
  • Suzuki LS400 Savage (1992-1995) - second generation. The frame number is NK41B-XXXXXX. The model has minor cosmetic differences.

The Suzuki Savage 400 was produced until 1996, after which it was discontinued. Currently, the model is not very popular at Japanese auctions (obviously due to its age and the presence of other, more interesting, models) and is quite rare in Russia. However, some companies are still bringing the Savage 400 from Japan to meet the steady low demand. The main advantage of the model is the advantageously low price compared to other 400 cc cruisers.
