In Asian countries (including Japan) [[Kawasaki_Z250 | Z250]] became known as [[Kawasaki_Z250 | Z250 ABS]] and was essentially a Z300, but with a motor from [[Kawasaki_Ninja_250R | Ninja 250]] (the new Z300 model received a motor from [[Kawasaki_Ninja_300 | Ninja 300]]).
Compared to the previous [[Kawasaki_Z250 | Kawasaki Z250]], the new Z300 has an Assist & Slipper clutch. The restyled Asian version [[Kawasaki_Z250 | Kawasaki Z250 ABS]] was also equipped with this system.
