Honda RVF400 (VFR)

Honda VFR400R (NC30) 1989-1993

The Honda VFR400R sports bike model appeared in 1986 as the successor to the Honda VFR400F model, with a new look, exhaust and engine configuration (270 ° crankshaft, timing gear). This generation, according to the frame number, is usually called "NC21" ".

Main competitors:

In 1987, the Honda VFR 400 received a number of updates and a new generation NC24 . The new version received a cantilever rear swingarm, a cable clutch (instead of hydraulic), new larger carburettors and more precise tuning of the intake and exhaust system (which increased the torque to 39 Nm).

In 1989, the model undergoes another restyling and receives the frame number NC30 . The new version returns to the 360 ° crankshaft, has a new stainless exhaust, a 17 'front wheel, a shorter wheelbase, larger valves, slipping clutch (limits torque when downshifting at high rpm, preventing the rear wheel from locking) and a more efficient system cooling.

In 1994, the Honda VFR400R was replaced by the updated Honda RVF400R (frame number NC35). The new version received an updated look, an inverted fork, flat choke carburettors, a 17 'rear wheel and a slightly reconfigured gearbox.

Despite the fact that the 400 cc Japanese models in the vast majority of cases were available exclusively in the domestic Japanese market, the Honda VFR / RVF400 model was also available in Europe (most motorcycles were sold in the UK) and even enjoyed good demand as an inexpensive motorcycle. for the track.

1998 was the last year of production of the Honda RVF400R model, after which it finally left the market and did not receive further development.
