Kawasaki ZG1200 Voyager first appeared in 1986 as a response to Honda GL1200 Gold Wing and was intended primarily for the US and Canadian markets.

Kawasaki ZG1200 Voyager based on an in-line 4-cylinder liquid-cooled engine with a volume of 1196 cc. see, giving out 97 hp. power and 108 Nm of torque. The maximum performance of the motor is reached at 5000-7000 rpm. Unlike the Gold Wing 1200 engine, the ZG1200 Voyager has a slightly larger volume (1196 cc vs. 1182 cc), a higher compression ratio (10.0 vs. 9.0: 1) and a 16-valve twin-shaft (DOHC) cylinder head (in [ [Honda_GL1200_Gold_Wing | Gold Wing 1200]] - 8 valves, SOHC).
