The Yamaha XVZ 1300 begins its history in 1983 with the release of the Yamaha XVZ 1200 Royal Star Venture touring model.

In 1986, the motorcycle was updated to the Yamaha Venture Royale (it gets a 1294 cc engine) and was produced unchanged until 1993.
