The Kawasaki ER-6 road bike series was first introduced in 2006 as a successor to the outdated model [[Kawasaki_ER-5 | rather archaic motorcycle, produced practically unchanged since 1996. Like ER-5, the new Kawasaki ER-6 was aimed not only at the Japanese-Asian market, but also in Europe, America and Australia.
Lineup :
The main versions of the Kawasaki ER-6:
- Kawasaki ER-6n - naked version of the motorcycle.
- Kawasaki ER-6f (Ninja 650R) - full plastic version.
Noteworthy is the fact that the naked version of the motorcycle (Kawasaki ER-6n) was more popular in Europe, while in the United States until 2009, only the version with fairings was supplied (Kawasaki ER-6f), sold there under the name Kawasaki Ninja 650R. ... Both modifications of the motorcycle were presented on the Australian market, but the sport-touring version (Kawasaki ER-6f) was the most popular.
2016 was the last year of production for the ER-6 and Ninja 650R models. Instead, Kawasaki offered two motorcycles that became the successors of this series - Kawasaki Z650 and Kawasaki Ninja 650 (without the R prefix). Both models received a number of significant visual and technical differences, and went on sale in 2017.
In 2007, based on the Kawasaki ER-6, a crossover was created Kawasaki Versys 650. In 2010, a training version of the motorcycle was released - Kawasaki ER-4, in two versions, like the ER-6, which differed from the "big brother" only in engine size.
