Sports tourist bike Honda ST1300 Pan European entered the market in 2002 and became the successor to Honda ST1100 Pan European.
Main competitors:
Unlike the previous model, the new one has received a number of major changes.
- Appearance. Completely new, more modern look.
- Engine. Received an injection power system, increased the volume from 1085 cm³ to 1261 cm³, increased maximum performance (100 HP → 126 HP; 109 Nm → 125 Nm), received two balance shafts and a traditional timing system (chains instead of a belt and gears).
- Frame. The duplex steel frame has been replaced by a cast aluminum frame.
- Brake system. Increasing the diameter of the brake discs (front: 296 mm → 310 mm; rear: 296 mm → 316 mm). New version of ABS - Dual-ABS. Versions without ABS were still equipped with combined brakes.
- Fuel tank. Increased its capacity (28 L → 29 L).
- Traction control (TCS). No longer offered.
- Comfort. The seat height can be adjusted, the windshield has received an electrically adjustable function (since 2004 it has been standard equipment).
Modifications:
- Honda ST1300 Pan European - regular version.
- Honda ST1300 Pan European Police - Police version. It could be used not only in the police, but also for any other municipal services of the city.
In 2013, based on the engine from the Honda ST 1300, a new model was built - Honda CTX1300, featuring a more touristy appearance and a derated engine providing more powerful traction at low revs.
2016 was the last year of production of the model, after which it finally left the market. However, Pan-European's departure was not a significant loss, as there is a fair amount of touring bikes in the Honda lineup - both VFR1200F, and the iconic Gold Wing, and available from recently CTX1300.
