Honda CB900F Hornet

Honda CB900 Hornet

The road bike model Honda CB 900 F Hornet appeared in 2001 and was produced until 2007. The motorcycle was export-oriented and was officially sold in Japan only in 2001, after which it was available mainly in the countries of North America, Europe and Oceania. In the United States, this model had the name Honda CB900 without the Hornet prefix, since this trademark was already assigned to the Chrysler carmaker (which bought AMC, and with it the rights to the AMC Hornet car and the corresponding trade name).

The Honda CB900F Hornet was based on the sports version Honda CBR919RR Fireblade, which used different camshafts, pistons, and PGM-Fi electronic fuel injection instead of carburetors. As a result, the engine received a reduced compression ratio, a lower maximum power, but significantly increased the torque characteristic, making it smoother and more accessible at lower revs. Maximum power - 110 hp, maximum torque - 91 Nm at 6500 rpm.

The frame of the motorcycle is a steel structure, the suspension is a conventional telescopic fork and a monoshock. Since 2004, the Honda CB900F Hornet has been equipped with an adjustable cartridge fork and gets a rebound damping adjustment for the rear shock. Braking system - full disc, with front 4-piston calipers.

The Honda CB900F Hornet was produced from 2001 to 2007 inclusive, after which it was discontinued. The main reason for the abandonment of the model was the tightening of environmental emission standards, which the motorcycle ceased to comply with. It was replaced by a completely new model - Honda CB1000R.
